Don't Be That Guy: 5 Annoying Things To Stop Doing At The Gym

Respectful Gym Etiquette

Are there some people at the gym who just rub you the wrong way? It doesn't matter where you are, disrespectful people will always leave a bad taste in your mouth. So to ensure that you're not one of these annoying gym bros, here are five things you definitely shouldn't be doing at the gym.

1. Forgetting To Wipe Down Equipment

It's important to remember that at the gym, everyone is sharing the same equipment and tools. So if you're sweating and leaving all that behind, make sure you take the time to properly scrub everything down with the wipes provided by the gym. If you don't want to touch someone else's sweat, the same goes for everyone else.

2. Hogging Equipment

One of the most annoying things you can do at the gym is hog equipment by using it as a resting station while going on your phone or simply doing nothing. There are likely other people waiting, so don't be disrespectful and waste other people's time. If you're done, clean up and let someone else use it.

3. Dropping Weights Loudly

Dropping weights in the middle of the gym and creating that loud bang isn't just annoying, but it can also be dangerous. Just imagine being super focused on finishing a set, when bam, an insanely loud noise disrupts your flow and you nearly drop the weight.

4. Leaving Equipment On The Floor

That dumbbell you can't seem to find on the rack? It's because someone left it in the middle of the floor on the complete opposite side of the gym. Not just a tripping hazard, it's also disrespectful to the rest of the gym-goers who are looking to be productive and use their time wisely.

5. Being Overly Loud

Whether you're talking on the phone, blasting music, or shouting with your gym buddies, always remember gyms are public places where you need to respect other people's space still. Don't be an annoying disruptor and you won't get nasty looks sent your way.
