5 Ways To Soothe Muscle Cramps

Dealing With Cramps

Cramps always feel like they hit you out of nowhere with terrible pain that leaves you rolling around, unsure of what to do. If you're tired of not knowing how to deal with cramps, this article is perfect for you. Here are five ways to soothe muscle cramps so that you can get rid of the pain as quickly as possible.

1. Massage The Muscle

Wherever the muscle cramp is, use your hands or a tool like a massage roller, and gently begin massaging the pained area. Make sure you don't use too much pressure or press too strongly, as that might only aggravate the cramp further. You simply want to relax the muscle.

2. Gently Stretch

When you have a cramped muscle, you need to find a way to release the tension. Try getting up and doing a light stretch that targets the cramping area, making sure to only apply gentle pressure.

3. Drink Lots Of Water

You may not realize, but your cramp might have been caused by dehydration! Make sure you drink lots of water not just to prevent more cramps from happening, but because it keeps your body healthy and running smoothly.

4. Take A Warm Bath

Applying some heat to your cramp can further alleviate any pain or tension. Whether you take a warm shower, bath, or simply apply a heating pad, this can help loosen up any tight muscles you have. If it was an intense cramp, it can also be helpful in reducing the pain!

5. Take A Pain Reliever

If you're dealing with a particularly painful cramp, you may want to consider taking a pain reliever if you think it's to that extreme. Over-the-counter medication like ibuprofen can help with alleviating some of that pain in an instant.
